      زندہ بہت رہا ہوں، بسر کچھ نہیں کیا
      چلتا رہا ہوں اور سفر کچھ نہیں کیا

      اک بار میں نے خود کو سمیٹا تھا ٹوٹ کر
      پھر ٹوٹتا رہا ہوں، مگر کچھ نہیں کیا

      جو بھی لکھا ہے اپنے ہی خوں سے کشید ہے
      میں نے کسی کے زیرِ اثر کچھ نہیں کیا

      اپنے لئے زمیں سے اگائی ہیں نفرتیں
      میں نے سِوائے جرمِ ہنر، کچھ نہیں کیا

      بِہلا لیا ہے خود کو مقّدر کے نام پر
      شہزاد علاجِ زخمِ جگر کچھ نہیں کیا
