      Re: Hijab Or Burqa

Women should not put all her hair up on the top of her haid like a camel hump. She may put it up at home as long as some hair lays on her neck still, but not when leaving the house in hijab where the hump can be seen to be under the hijab and drawing attention to her hair.

      Re: Hijab Or Burqa

      Conditions of Muslim Dress Code

Clothing must cover the entire body, only the hands and face may remain visible (According to some Fiqh Schools).
The material must not be so thin that one can see through it.
The clothing must hang loose so that the shape of the body is not apparent.
The female clothing must not resemble the man's clothing.
The design of the clothing must not resemble the clothing of the non-believing women.
The design must not consist of bold designs which attract attention.
Clothing should not be worn for the sole purpose of gaining reputation or increasing one's status in society.

The reason for this strictness is so that the woman is protected from the lustful gaze of men & also protect her own chastity, purity & dignity so as not to seduce or lure men towards themselves. She should not attract attention to herself in any way. It is permissible for a man to catch the eye of a woman, however it is haram (unlawful) for a man to look twice as this encourages lustful thoughts.

Islam protects the woman; it is for this reason that Allah gave these laws. In today's society womankind is being exploited, female sexuality is being openly used in advertising, mainly to attract the desires of men and therefore sell the product. Is the woman really free in today's society? The answer is obviously no. Being slaves to sexuality, lust and whims, The constant bombardment by the media as to how the ideal woman should look and dress testifies to this.

      Re: Hijab Or Burqa

Real freedom means being able to wear a veil!

There has been a vibrant debate about whether Muslim women should be entitled to wear a veil in public!

Despite my opposition to all kinds of fundamentalism, I think that a liberal society ought to be able to withstand a few people exercising their free choice to wear a veil. And it is important to understand that, difficult though it is for many us to comprehend, it is a free choice.

This story is not about the veil, it is about airport security.

This story is not about the veil, is about the sense of fault of western civilization, our hang ups. This sense in your police (UK ,france...) makes this huge mistake!

Most of the veiled Muslim women of the most decent, sensitive, intelligent, compassionate and humourous . and for those who say the veil is a sign of aggression, i'm sorry but Muslims don't spend their free time thinking up ways to psychologically challenge the British legal and political systems. These women are born and educated in the UK, and the decision to wear the veil is a deeply personal one. Not somthing they are expected, controlled, abused or beaten in to. Also to those of youwho feel uncomfortable talking to someone whose face you can not see, well lots of people manage to converse quite freely over internet chatrooms and telephone, any hangups you have in doing this practically face-to-face is your own.

      Re: Hijab Or Burqa

I was just thinking about how ironic it is that I feel more comfortable wearing the hijab and working on increasing my faith at work place and my country India, a lot of women wear the head scarf for cultural reasons, not religious so when people see me wearing the hijab strictly for Islamic reasons they kind of crack jokes at me. Please forgive Allah for the lapses in wearing hijab for now ! In Sha Allah...in future as well if by mistake i do!

      Re: Hijab Or Burqa

Is it permissible for a woman to use false eyelashes?

      Praise be to Allaah.
It is haraam for a woman to wear false eyelashes because they come under the heading of hair extensions, for which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed those who do that.

Al-Bukhaari and Muslim (2122) narrated that Asma’ bint Abi Bakr said: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allaah, I have a daughter who is newly married, and she had the measles and her hair fell out. Can I give her hair extensions?” He said: “Allaah has cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.”
Al-Bukhaari (5205) and Muslim (2123) narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that a girl from among the Ansaar got married and she became sick and her hair fell out. They wanted to give her hair extensions, so they asked the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about that, and he cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.

      Al-Nawawi said:

The one who fixes hair extensions is the one who joins the other hair to the woman’s hair. The one who has that done is the woman who asks someone else to do that for her. These ahaadeeth clearly state that it is haraam to fix hair extensions, and the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done are both cursed in general terms. This is the more correct meaning.

      End quote.

False eyelashes come under the same heading, because the real eyelashes are extended with the false ones.

Moreover some doctors have mentioned that false eyelashes lead to chronic allergies in the skin and eyes, and to infection in the eyelids, and may cause the eyelashes to fall out. So using them is harmful, and the Lawgiver forbids that as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.”

      See Zeenat al-Mar’ah bayna al-Tibb wa’l-Shar’. P. 33.

The Muslim woman should note that paying too much attention to such matters may be a kind of over-indulgence in leisure and luxury, and a waste of time and money which she could have used for something more beneficial to the Muslims, especially nowadays when people have no drive to do good and women have been distracted from their basic role which is to raise the next generation, and instead they are paying too much attention to these matters
