Allama Dr. Syed Zamir Akhtar Naqvi was born in 1947 in Lucknow, India. He belongs to a family known for the literary and religious heritage which hails from the Sadaat-e-Gardezi family who came to the subcontinent through modern day Afghanistan.
He was educated at Husainabad School and graduated in literature from Government Jubilee College (now Shia College), Lucknow. He is an author of more than three hundred titles, spanning wide ranging topics such as literature, culture, religion, philosophy, logic and oratory.
He has been a speaker on different themes for almost half a century. His lectures are based on topics such as Islamic history, literature and philosophy as well as modern themes such as contemporary issues including current affairs. A key component of his lectures is that he always addresses the topics which are related to the modern day issues and relates them back to the Quran and the lives of the Ahlul Bayt.
He is currently the chairman of Mir Anees Academy, Karachi, Pakistan and the Director of Markaz-e-Uloom-e-Islamia Pakistan. Allama frequently visits various countries in the world to address literary issues, concerning Urdu language and literature, especially the importance of Marsiyah in general and Mir Anees in particular.
